Finally checking off Great Falls off my list! I can't believe it was nice 70s this past weekend. Is it really November?
I never thought I'd ever get to say, "yeah, I went bowling at the White House." But, yeah, I went bowling at the White House (!!!!!).
What an amazing city. What a beautiful city. This is just one of many reasons why I fell in love with D.C.
After lunch, we decided to go on another quick hike before we headed back to the city. We decided to visit the Stony Man Trail. It took us about 1 - 2 hours to go up and down since we were taking our time and enjoying each other's company. See below for photos!
& that concludes my trip!
P.S. If you couldn't tell from my photos, but it was an extremely windy day and my hair was on the biggest struggle bus.
It's always nice being able to get away from the busy, hustling, city once in a while. A few friends and I decided to take a day trip to Shenandoah, Virginia and of course, the weekend before we go was beautiful 60s, the weekend we go was a windy, cold, 40s, and the weekend after was beautiful 80s. Just our luck, huh? But either way, we still had a great time.
Good company, good vibes, and being surrounded by nature is always a great time. See below for a few photos from the Upper Hawksbill Trail.
P.S. my friends and I dared my friend to wear her "Bear Bum" onesie on this hike and she did so ever so proudly. How amazing is she?
A few friends and I took a day trip to Shenandoah last week to visit the fall leaves. We left DC around 8:30 a.m. and it took us about 2 - 3 hours (driving) to arrive at our destination. We went for a quick morning hike, so of course by the time it was lunch, we were all starving. I really wanted to sit at the Pollock Dining Room, since you get a gorgeous view, but because there we were a big group and the place was crowded with other people, we resorted to the Mountain Taproom.
Also, if we waited for the Pollock Dining Room area, we would've had to wait 2 hours just to get a table. Sigh, but okay, let's eat!
Once we were done with lunch, we headed back out to the trails to get one last hike before we headed home. Don't forget to check out my other posts for photos from our hike!
Wow the talk about Barrel is no joke. They have amazing food and a great bottomless mimosas deal (hello, $20!). Once my friends and I sat down to study the menu, we struggled deciding what to order. Everything sounded amazing and we also had difficulty reading the menu because of the unappealing text. And so, to make your life easier, here's what you should order:
Dear chef Gerret Fleming, you make amazing food. Thank you for a wonderful experience. I will be back for more!
From a spontaneous wine tasting at Morais Vineyards to a hot air balloon festival, see below for a few photos!
P.S. My friend and I had hours to kill until the festival started, so we spent a good chunk killing that time at the Vineyard, so don't worry, no one was driving buzzed!
Okay, I'll be completely honest with you. I decided to stop by this place because I saw someone post an image of the burger with the Satellite sign in the back on my Instagram feed, so being the typical millennial-foodie I am, I had to stop by. Don't judge me. I wasn't able to try their Boozy Shakes, so I definitely need to stop by again in the near future to try them out!
Let me make your life easy and tell you what you need to order when you come here:
짜장면 (Jjajangmyun): black bean Korean-Chinese noodles.
탕수육 (Tansuyuk): Crispy sweet and sour pork
aka the food you always see people ordering in Korean Dramas.
It's so hard to come across good Korean food in DC, which is unfortunate since I'm always craving Korean food. My mom was in town for a few days and since she had a car, I decided to take advantage of this and requested we go to Annandale, Virginia to get my cravings fixed.
Lighthouse Tofu is known for their Sundubu jjigaes, which is curled tofu stew. I ordered the seafood and my mom ordered the mixed/everything sundubu. I don't believe Lighthouse Tofu has a website, so I'll direct you to their Yelp reviews instead (click here).
I've been meaning to stop by this place for the longest time, so I'm glad I finally got to check it out during DC's Restaurant week!
Overall, I really enjoyed my experience at Del Campo and it's definitely a restaurant I'm adding to my list. The ambiance is a bit more formal, so I wouldn't go here for a casual everyday outing but I'll be back, Del Campo!
For those who know me/visited my blog before, it should be no surprise that I picked Sushiko as one of my must visits during DC's Restaurant Week. Spoiler alert: it's one of my go-to favorite Japanese restaurants in DC. I haven't been here in a while, so I thought I might as well take advantage of their restaurant week menu and call up a few friends to catchup with.
Alright, here we go. Let's start:
I'm a little very biased when it comes to Sushiko, but... 10/10!
My friend recommended we visit this small BBQ shop for dinner during our weekend trip to Lake Anna. They weren't shy with their portion sizes, customer service was great, this is a very family friendly location, and the food was really good too. This is definitely a must visit if you're ever in this area.
What an incredible amazing and relaxing weekend getaway, runaway, to Lake Anna. Although our time here was short – we were only here for the weekend – it was still nice being able to runaway from our lives for a few days.
Except for the occasional Snapchats, we were all hardly on our phones for the duration of our trip. It was nice being able to disconnect from the world and pause everything that was going on for a few days.
We were left with our thoughts, with each other, too many rom-com movies, and this beautiful home. I couldn't ask for a more perfect weekend.
& of course, as always, here are a few photos!
So, my eyes were definitely bigger than my stomach, but I haven't had Korean food in over 6 months, so I was incredibly excited to finally get my cravings fixed.
Hello, La Madeleine! One of my favorite and go-to spots for a Saturday morning brunch. I love the intimate-quaint ambiance of this place, although some might think it's a little crowded, but I love it because it makes it the perfect spot to catch-up with friends.
This post is a little way overdue but better late than never? This past winter, my family members and I ate at Jung Sik Dang in Korea, although they do have a restaurant in New York, and I fell in love. I've been craving their food ever since, but this also might be because I follow them on Instagram. Hi, Mom, if you're reading this, can we go back?
I'll let the photos do the talking.
This isn't your typical Korean cuisine and I love the spin chef Jung Sik Yim took. 10 out of 10 out of 10.
Photo time!
This was my first time at In-N-Out and I now see why the hype is so big. The quality you get for the price you pay, 10/10!
Just a few additional photos from my trip to San Francisco that I wanted to share.
Pizza, Pizza, Pizza.
Aka one of my favorite junk foods
We ordered the combo pizza, pepperoni, and cheese.
This place has been on my bucket list for far too long, so I finally decided to make a conscious effort this past weekend to visit DBGD Kitchen and Bar in City Center. Okay, are you ready? Time to scroll.
10/10 I would go back.
I realized I've spent more time away than in my city over the past few weeks, so I decided to play tourist this past weekend. A friend and I decided to stop by City Center for lunch (click here for post) and was hoping to catch the pink balloon lanterns too (click here), so I was a little bummed to see them gone. That didn't stop us from taking photos, so make sure you scroll all the way down!
I can't believe July is already coming to an end and we're itching closer to 2017.
Wanted to share a few touristy photos I took during my trip to San Francisco. Shoutout to my brother for his patience and being my personal photographer during this trip.
Thank for sticking around till the end. Make sure you check out my other posts from this trip and keep an eye out for my recap vlog too!
My family and I took the cable car - and yes, we waited for over an hour with the rest of all the tourists - to Fisherman Wharf. We stopped by Franciscan for a quick lunch. We weren't too hungry - we had a huge breakfast - so we decided to order appetizers! We ordered crab, crab fondue with spinach, smoked salmon bellini, and crab and clam chowder soup. We then walked and explored the area to burn off some calories in the beautiful-humid-free-fall-like-weather. See below for photos!
